Sun Mala - Rudraksha Beads with Garnet Counter Beads

This Sun mala has rudraksha beads that are hand knotted with faceted garnet counter beads and gold filled accents. The Guru bead drop is a faceted faceted garnet rectangle  bead and there is a dark red tassel.

This is the standard 108 bead mala composed of 9 sets of 11 beads and then the counter bead. Malas are used to count prayers, japa - repetition of Holy names and mantras, and to keep track of breathing exercises in meditation.

The mala is 36" long with a hanging Guru bead and a 2" red tassel. It weighs about 4 ounces.

Red garnet is a gemstone used to influence the planetary energy of the Sun.

Rudraksha beads have a long history of use for sacred malas in several religions. Rudraksha is a Sanskrit word associated with one of Shiva's names, Rudra.
