Astrological Highlights: March 2026

As March begins, we are in an intense time between two eclipses. Eclipses can transform our consciousness by exposing secrets, and eclipses can bring sudden and unexpected changes. Rahu and Ketu (the shadow planets responsible for eclipses) form a Kala Sarpa Yoga this month, meaning that their energies are extra intense.

The First Solar Eclipse in 2026

First, let me try to recap the meaning of the solar eclipse that occurred almost two weeks ago, on February 17. This was a Rahu/Sun eclipse in Aquarius, in the Dhanishta Nakshatra. Dhanishta means "wealthy" and expresses matters around wealth, ambition, status, and power. Dhanishta is ruled by Mars, a planet that is sometimes referred to as “the God of War”.

The solar eclipse in Dhanishta has exposed manipulation and brought much darkness into light. Numerous testimonials and the release of some of the Epstein files have exposed a connection with powerful and wealthy people worldwide, and this revelation of dark secrets and double standards is a wake-up call that should shake the world.

And the world is shaking right now. Usa/Israeli bombs have been falling on cities in Iran, and Iran is retaliating. Hundreds of thousands are stranded at airports in the Middle East. There is chaos in Iran as thousands try to escape the cities.

A Lunar Eclipse on March 3

Following the solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse occurs on March 3. The eclipsed Moon is in Leo (representing leaders) with Ketu. While Rahu is symbolically portrayed as the head of a dragon, Ketu is the tail. Ketu relates to the past and indicates detachment. It has been said that through Ketu’s sudden and instinctive energy, people may lose their heads. We see this energy reflected in what’s happening in Iran and also with the fallout from the Epstein files.

The lunar eclipse occurs in the Purva Phalguni nakshatra, ruled by Venus. The symbol for Purva Phalguni is a hammock or bed, representing relaxation, pleasure, and entertainment. Venus rules pleasure and women. Leo rules leaders and royalty.

Ketu with the Moon can bring isolation and chaos. But a spiritual Ketu can help us introspect. A spiritual Ketu in Purva Phalguni can help us honor the feminine and to spiritualize our relationships.

It is spiritual poverty, not material lack, that lies at the core of all human suffering.

A Busy Time For Mercury Retrograde

Mercury retrograde began on February 25 and continues until March 20.  Mercury’s retrograde takes place entirely in Aquarius.

This is an extremely busy time for Mercury, which governs communication, information,
and trade. When a planet is retrograde, we often need to return to the past in order to clear up karma.

The retrograde Mercury has help from a retrograde Jupiter casting its trine aspect on Aquarius from Gemini. Jupiter, a planet of law and knowledge, has been retrograde since November of last year. It is now powerfully stationed at around 21° Gemini from February 12 to April 6. Jupiter will act more decisively as he becomes direct again on March 11th.

Volatile Power and Ambition

While transiting Aquarius, Mercury in retrograde meets with Venus, Sun, Mars, and Rahu. There will be a very close conjunction between Mars, Mercury R, and Rahu between March 12 - 16. And when Mercury slows down, stations, and ends his retrograde, he will stay on the same degree as Rahu for over a week at 14 degrees Aquarius. Rahu, a master of manipulation, can shake planets up like no other. This is a time of big changes.

A New Moon in Pisces

At the time of the new Moon on March 18, other planets have migrated into Pisces: Venus, the Sun, and the Moon have joined Saturn and Neptune. The New Moon takes place at 4° Pisces.

Kala Sarpa Yoga

Kala Sarpa Yoga takes place between March 23 and March 30. It means that all planets are situated between Rahu and Ketu, thereby giving the lunar nodes more power. This yoga often indicates intense karma.

Old Structures Dissolving

The Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Pisces lasts until February 2028 when Saturn leaves the sign. Neptune stays in Pisces until 2037. Saturn is not comfortable in Pisces, or with Neptune. Saturn wants structure, but Neptune dissolves it. Old structures are dissolving, a new consciousness emerging.

We’re in a tumultuous time where the old consciousness of the past is fighting to keep control. Because of the intense volatility, this is not a good time to travel. Do your best to go about your business calmly. And pray for Peace and Harmony in the world.

“Calmness gives the devotee power to overcome all obstacles in life. Even in human affairs, the person who can remain calm under all circumstances is invincible.”
–Paramhansa Yogananda

Blessings,
Lina
