In November, when the long nights sneak up on us and gusty winds send leaves tumbling to the ground, it becomes tempting to stay inside. Astrologically, the stars might agree. Seven planets are retrograde this month, making this a suitable time for reflection, reevaluation, and deep introspection.
Mercury, the most well-known planet to retrograde from time to time, is now retrograde for nearly three weeks, beginning on November 9 in Scorpio, ending on November 29 in Libra. Even though Mercury in retrograde often brings challenges, it can also prompt us to rethink and focus on how to communicate more effectively. As we examine communication or business from different angles, we will sometimes manifest a new and unique approach.
Jupiter has just entered Cancer when he begins a 4-month retrograde on November 11. Due to going retrograde, Jupiter stations just above 0 degrees Cancer the entire month. A retrograde Jupiter may prompt us to question our values. Perhaps we need to attune ourselves more deeply to the higher wisdom of this “Guru” planet. This will lead to inner growth and maturity.
Saturn began his retrograde earlier this year, in July, but turns direct again on November 27. For the entire month, the slow-moving Saturn stations around one degree in Pisces, in Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra. This nakshatra is symbolized by the two front legs of a funeral cot and a two-faced man, suggesting that something is coming to an end and that greater integration is needed.
However, Jupiter’s aspect on Saturn suggests some assistance. Interestingly, Jupiter becomes retrograde while Saturn turns direct.
Saturn’s travelling companion this year, Neptune, will end his retrograde two weeks later, on December 11.
While a retrograde Neptune—with Saturn—asks us to face reality, it also encourages us to explore our dreams and our spiritual nature.
Uranus is retrograde until February 4, 2026. A retrograde Uranus indicates the need to come to terms with times of intense change through inner reassessment and reevaluation.
Finally, Rahu and Ketu tend to go against the stream. They are always retrograde.
Venus stays in Libra most of November, between November 2 and 25. The agenda for Venus in Libra is to establish peace and balance, amid much tension and many challenges in today’s world.
Mercury begins its retrograde near Mars in Scorpio, bringing intense energy to communication. Watch out for arguments and conflicts during Mercury's retrograde in Scorpio. After November 23, with Mercury joining Venus in Libra, Mercury is calm again.
However, when the Sun joins Mars in Scorpio after November 16, the potential for power struggles increases.
A full moon marks a culmination of something. Interestingly, it takes place on the day after the special elections in the USA. A full moon is a time of illumination. Once we have clarity, we can begin to release and let go.
The moon is dark on the nights leading up to a new moon. This is the final stage of the lunar cycle. The new moon on November 19 occurs on the Moon’s debilitation degree in Scorpio, with Mercury retrograde right next to it. A new moon is a suitable time for meditation and prayers, for purification, affirmation, and for setting new intentions.

Jupiter is very influential this October. The planet will move to Cancer, the sign of his exaltation on October 18– but only for a short time before returning again to Gemini.
In September 2025, we will see two eclipses. Eclipses are powerful and serve as catalysts for change in the world.
Many planets are continuing their retrograde as August arrives. We will also see tension between Mars and Saturn, due to a mutual opposition between the two planets.
