After months of intense astrological influences, May finally brings relief. The planetary alignments this month are among the most positive of the year, offering genuine support for communication, creativity, and new beginnings.
May opens on a beautiful note. The full Moon on May 1st falls in Libra, a sign associated with balance, beauty, and harmonious relationships.
Several planets strengthen this full Moon. A full Moon always reflects the energy of the Sun. Currently, the Sun is exalted in Aries, bringing vitality and a sense of renewal. Mercury has recently entered Aries as well, making this a favorable time for clear thinking and successful negotiation. Venus, meanwhile, is in Taurus in Rohini, a nakshatra associated with enjoyment, creativity, and the pleasures of life. Both Jupiter in Gemini and Rahu in Aquarius cast their aspect on the Moon, adding support for communication and healing.
The full Moon on May 1st invites us to pause and appreciate the goodness around us, a gentle and auspicious start after an eventful April.
On May 11, Mars leaves Saturn in Pisces and moves into Aries, a sign it rules and where it feels very much at home. Saturn's presence in Pisces has made this a more constrained and serious placement for Mars, so its departure brings a welcome sense of release. In Aries, Mars is energetic and direct, well-suited to initiating new beginnings.
The signs ruled by Mars, Aries and Scorpio, draw particular benefit from this transit. More broadly, all fire signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) resonate with Mars's natural drive and confidence, while the water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) benefit from the added vitality and forward momentum that Mars brings.
Although the shift of Mars into Aries is positive, there is still a challenge posed by Kala Sarpa Yoga, which is in effect from May 11 to May 23. Kala Sarpa Yoga is a configuration in which all planets fall between Rahu and Ketu. This tends to heighten collective tension and bring underlying divisions, political and otherwise, to the surface.
Mid-May brings a significant planetary shift. On May 13, Venus joins Jupiter in Gemini, bringing together the two main benefic planets in one sign. Jupiter contributes wisdom and expansion, while Venus adds beauty and connection. Together in Gemini, they support communication, learning, and the exchange of ideas.
Another positive influence arrives the following day. On May 14, Mercury moves into Taurus, a sign ruled by Venus, while Venus is in Gemini, a sign ruled by Mercury. This mutual exchange, known as a Parivartana Yoga, strengthens both planets and extends their positive influence to all signs, particularly Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, and Libra. This is a favorable two-week window for launching a new project or creative endeavor.
On May 28, Mercury joins Venus and Jupiter in Gemini, bringing all three planets together in one sign for a few days. The three benefic planets in the same sign is known as Saraswati Yoga. This is an exceptionally positive time for communication and creative work, especially for Gemini.
Looking ahead, Jupiter moves into Cancer on June 2, the sign of its exaltation. This shift is positive for Jupiter and turns attention toward home, family, nurturing, and learning. Jupiter will remain in Cancer for one year. We will explore this transit in more depth next month.
May begins with a full Moon in Libra and ends with a full Moon in Scorpio on May 31st, giving the month a satisfying sense of completion.
The full Moon in Scorpio falls in Anuradha nakshatra, associated with devotion, friendship, and the ability to thrive despite challenges. It reflects the Sun in Taurus, in the nakshatra of Rohini, associated with beauty, abundance, and creative energy. The Saraswati Yoga in Gemini falls in the 8th house from this Moon, the house of transformation. May, then, closes not with a winding down but with a sense of positive change and renewal.
May is a month of genuine opportunity. The planetary alignments offer support for communication, creativity, new beginnings, and inner growth. Yet it is our own effort, awareness, and attunement with God that determines how fully we receive what the cosmos offers. As Paramhansa Yogananda said:
"Your success in life does not depend only upon natural ability; it also depends upon your determination to grasp the opportunity that is presented to you. Opportunities in life come by creation, not by chance. They are created by you, either now or at some time in the recent or distant past."
Blessings,

April 2026 is astrologically intense and unstable. When Mercury enters Pisces on April 10, there will be 5 planets transiting Pisces.
As March begins, we are in an intense time between two eclipses. Eclipses can transform our consciousness by exposing secrets and bring unexpected changes.
With many planets in Aquarius and the first eclipse of the year, what can Vedic astrology tell us about February?
