From April 13th to May 14th, 2020 the Vedic Sun is exalted in Aries, a sign that expresses energetic power and new beginnings.

During these times of extreme caution and restriction, the Sun’s entry into Aries may offer a challenge for some. A pioneer’s path is no safe or well-traveled highway but we may need to blend this enthusiastic and dynamic energy with caution and common sense as we move forward.

There are also several ways we can draw from the Sun’s powerful energy that will benefit our health and vitality.

Aries - A Sign of New Beginnings

The Sun’s entry into Aries is very positive, especially during this time of a global pandemic. His strength in Aries makes him quite capable in dealing with the dark forces that are present during this time. As the first sign, Aries expresses new beginnings and initiating energy. Perhaps we will see strong leadership, assertiveness and various initiatives calling for action. Aries favors independent thinking and pioneering.

The Sun is exalted in Aries and its ruler Mars is currently also exalted in another part of the sky. This combination favors technical innovation. Mars and Saturn also show all the hard work that is carried out.

Power and Light

God comes to us in different ways. He manifests as power and light through the Sun. The surface of the Sun is 9,941°F (over 25 million degrees at its core!) and his bright light can be blinding. And yet there would be no life on earth without the heat and light of the Sun. His gravitational pull is also responsible for keeping the planets in their orbits.

The light of the Sun shines equally on all. He is prana, life force and vitality.  In our physical bodies he governs the heart, circulation as well as the bones.

Energetically, the Sun expresses authority and leadership. The astrological Sun represents consciousness, intelligence and will.

Spiritually, the Sun represents the Self. Discovering the inner light helps us experience Self-realization.

The Sun as a Healer

Yogananda recommended using the healing power of the Sun through daily Sun baths. We can also strengthen the Sun by doing mantras and wearing gemstones.

Bathing daily in God’s Ocean of X-Ray

by Paramhansa Yogananda

“The ultra violet rays are not only life-giving, but they are the best killers of all forms of bacteria.

Sunlight and ultraviolet ray baths are necessary to fill the tissues and pores with life-giving energy from without. They redden the hemoglobin of the blood, recharging it and making it richer and healthier. As an ordinary bath washes away and clears the bacteria and dirt from the human body, so also the ultra violet rays in the sunlight not only cleanse the body of bacteria but also destroy them. The ultraviolet rays are the death rays which penetrate the homes of enemy bacteria hiding in the fingernails and body pores, and scorch them out.

By all means, if you have no time for a walk, open your glass windows and let your life-giving, soliciting friend, Sunlight, fall on you and bathe you all over.

...Take sunbaths as often as you can, from ten minutes to one-half hour, according to the strength of the sun. Do not overdo this. Be careful of severe sunburn, which does more harm than good.”

Mantra

The Gayatri Mantra is chanted in order to bring Light to the mind. This mantra has power over darkness and keeps depression away. The Gayatri Mantra invokes Lord Savitur, the Divine Sun and the ultimate light of wisdom.

Gemstones for the Sun

Gemstones are an excellent way to strengthen the energies of the planets. Yogananda’s guru, the great yogi and astrologer Sri Yukteswar, advised people to wear gemstones and metal bangles as a way of mitigating their karma.

The  gemstones for the Sun are ruby, red spinel, rubellite and garnet and the metal for the Sun is gold.

Have a  gemstone recommendation based on your astrological chart to ensure that a Sun gemstone is a good choice for you.

Enjoy the sunlight and the power of spring!

Blessings,
Lina
