Saturn goes retrograde this month. A retrograde Saturn can make us reflect on our lives, making this an excellent time for contemplation on how we want to move forward.

However, we also have some astrological energies this month that are a bit tumultuous.

Stirring Things Up

I had an experience recently that illustrates some of the astrological influences currently at work.

The other day, I tried to check the departure time for an upcoming flight to Sweden. After several unsuccessful attempts to get into the website, I found out that a cyber attack had hit the Scandinavian Airlines website, and the site was inoperable for 24 hours. In the meantime, the hackers increased their ransom 50 times that day.

Astrologically, events like this are partly seen in the Jupiter / Rahu conjunction in Aries, known as Guru Chandal Yoga. This combination is exact on June 1st (true node). The energy where this exact conjunction occurs is disturbed due to being at the same degree as the solar eclipse that occurred in April.

Rahu expresses the air element and can stir things up in an exaggerated way. A Rahu / Jupiter combination can represent air travel, wealth, philosophy and foreign affairs. It expands and sometimes overinflates.

More importantly, Mercury, the planet governing internet and communication, is also involved with the planets in Aries. Mercury was also part of the recent eclipses. As a result of this energy, our thinking and our thought processes can be affected. However, we may also come up with new and creative ideas.

It is a good idea to double-check information if you travel. Although Jupiter and Rahu are beginning to distance themselves from one another, they remain in the same sign until November.

Mercury - Think Before You Speak

Mercury normally moves fast but has stayed in Aries for a long time (March 31st - June 7th) due to Mercury having been retrograde between April 21st and May 14th.

Mercury went retrograde right after the solar eclipse in April. You may have experienced stressful circumstances regarding communication since the eclipse. Mercury also rules education and trade and has much to say regarding the budget, especially relevant in the US right now.

Some of us will breathe a sigh of relief when Mercury moves on to Taurus on June 7th, and later to Gemini on June 24th. If your rising sign is Gemini or Virgo, you are more sensitive to the transits of Mercury. You are also more susceptible to the challenges of Mercury if you are in a planetary period ruled by Mercury.

Mars and Saturn: Conflicting Energies

Mars influences Saturn for the next couple of months. This is not good for promoting peace, because Mars and Saturn are enemies.

Saturn Retrograde: Reflections on Karma

Saturn is powerful and close to Earth now. He stations around 12 degrees Aquarius for almost the entire month of June. He is retrograde between June 17th and November 3rd.

This month Saturn closely aspects Jupiter / Rahu in Aries. Saturn’s discipline may be a good influence on Jupiter / Rahu, which can otherwise be an overly expansive energy.

Saturn brings focus on the specifics of the sign that he transits. Saturn moves very slowly now, allowing his message to sink in gradually. The way we respond to his influence depends on our state of consciousness.

Saturn has strength in Aquarius. Saturn in Aquarius wants us to fulfill broad and long-range goals and to consider how we can contribute to a larger picture.

Aquarians tend to fulfill goals through cooperation and networking. Can we work together and support one another instead of tearing each other apart? It is apparent to some people - but by no means to everyone - that we need to live in harmony with one another as well as with our environment. Saturn in Aquarius supports science, and much progress can be made now, not only on Earth but also in space.

Aquarius is a humanitarian sign. Gain comes when we think about how we can contribute to the environment, science, humanitarian aid, and uplifting consciousness.

O Creator of galaxies and countless, blazing stars, the power of the very universe is Thine!
May I reflect that power in the little mirror of my life and consciousness.
