This is an intense month astrologically, influenced by strong malefic planets. Rahu and Ketu are in Kala Sarpa Yoga, Mars is in a planetary war with Venus, and by the end of the month most of the planets are in Capricorn and Aquarius, signs ruled by Saturn.

Kala Sarpa Yoga

Translated literally, Kala Sarpa Yoga means “the time of the serpent” and it occurs when all the seven planets fall on one side of the axis between Rahu and Ketu.

Kala Sarpa Yoga can also have some positive qualities, but there is no doubt the world is experiencing its negative effects now: imbalance and conflict.

We will experience the full Kala Sarpa Yoga:

  • Now until February 10, 2022
  • February 25 - March 10, 2022
  • March 24 - April 6, 2022

After April 6th, this yoga will not reappear until 2025.

Mars and Venus are at War

When two planets are within a degree of one another they are said to be fighting a war. This means that one of the planets wants power and dominance over the other.

It is not unusual for Mars and Venus to occasionally come together on the same degree since both of them move quite fast. However, they are now together for an unusually long period of time because Venus just turned direct after being retrograde. It takes Venus some time to pick up speed again after moving direct.

Mars and Venus are less than a degree apart for over a month which is very rare. Between February 11 and March 12th, the two planets are fighting a planetary war.

What Does This Mean Astrologically?

Venus is a planet that expresses unity, harmony and diplomacy, while Mars is assertive and wants to win.

An example of this energy is expressed in the conflict in Ukraine where Europe is trying to stand united against an aggressive Russia.

When the planets move into Capricorn at the end of this month the energy of Mars becomes disciplined and focused.

An Explosive Mars / Saturn Conjunction

Starting March 31st, Mars is left alone with Saturn in Capricorn for a week. The Mars and Saturn combination has challenges and can potentially manifest harm. Their conjunction is exact on April 4th and 5th at 28 degrees Capricorn. This is also the most powerful degree for Mars because it is the highest point of his exaltation in Capricorn.

In addition to the exact Mars / Saturn conjunction, we see intense aspects to the lunar nodes on April 4th and 5th. Mars is in an exact aspect to Rahu and Saturn is in an exact aspect to Ketu (true node). This energy could be explosive. Be mindful during the first week of April.

Focus on Service, Patience and Sadhana

At the end of February, all the planets will be in either Capricorn or Aquarius, which are both ruled by Saturn.

Saturn is often focused on work and service and his qualities of perseverance, patience and non-attachment could be especially helpful to us all at this time. This is an excellent time to deepen your meditation and spiritual practice.

Bring peace to your own heart first, then send it out as rays of harmony to all the world. The more you radiate peace and harmony to others, the more you will find yourself protected from all harm.
