Planetary transits this July reveal further sweeping changes. Jupiter, Pluto and Ketu are all retrograde in Sagittarius, a strong indication of correction and changing values and priorities. We also have a lunar eclipse that takes place on July 4th (or 5th, depending on your location).
A retrograde Jupiter returns to Sagittarius from Capricorn on June 29th. Jupiter’s quest for expansion and knowledge resonates with Sagittarius.
A retrograde Jupiter is accompanied by the outer planet Pluto, also in retrograde. They travel very close together throughout the month.
Jupiter in Sagittarius governs values and beliefs while Pluto’s energy is transformative, secretive and sometimes destructive or manipulative.During this time we may understand more about hidden forces that influence what we know and believe. We are also seeing changes in how we view travel, law, history, philosophy, and education– all areas ruled by Jupiter.
Ketu is already transiting Sagittarius in Mula nakshatra. Ketu’s and Jupiter’s connection to history strengthens the need to face our past, both individually and as a society.
Jupiter and Pluto both remain retrograde until the fall. Jupiter stays in Sagittarius until November 20th, when he moves on to Capricorn.
A lunar eclipse takes place in Sagittarius on July 4th or 5th, 2020 depending on where you are in the world. Check out the time for your location here.
This lunar eclipse is also Guru Purnima, a full moon in Sagittarius. Traditionally Guru Purnima is a time to celebrate important teachers in our lives. Interestingly, Jupiter (Guru in Sanskrit) just re-entered Sagittarius, making it even more relevant to honor inner wisdom and wise teachers.
This is likely a time when we will see an increased interest in ancient and spiritual teachings. Jupiter is a planet of hope and optimism, and he is strengthened with this move into Sagittarius. We can all work with Jupiter’s energy to help raise consciousness in the world.
Mercury transits Gemini, a good sign for Mercury. However, communication is not easy during the first half of this month. Mercury is retrograde, combust the Sun, and is involved in the eclipse. This can manifest some confusion and misunderstanding in communication. We need to be vigilant about double checking all the details and not assume that everything is correct. It is good to wait with any major written communication such as a will, a contract, or deed.
Mars is in Pisces all July and is aspecting Mercury and Rahu in Gemini. The actions of Mars in Pisces tend to be instinctive and emotional, and can push Mercury to impulsively express and communicate ideas. Take extra care to think before you speak this month.
Mercury comes out of retrograde and is direct again on July 12th. Mercury is in a good situation during the second half of July.
The division we have experienced as a result of Kala Sarpa yoga (all planets on one half of the zodiac flanked by Rahu in Gemini and Ketu in Sagittarius) is now ending. This is because the Sun leaves Gemini and moves into Cancer on July 15th.
As the Sun leaves Gemini it breaks the Kala Sarpa yoga until the end of the year.
The Sun in Cancer will have opposition from Saturn in Capricorn. This can be a difficult transit for leaders. Leaders will likely experience opposition or have to shoulder many responsibilities.
We will experience the pleasure of a direct Venus in Taurus all month. Venus is a social planet (but remember to keep social distance!). It is a good time to be creative, to enjoy nature and gardens.Venus goes into Gemini on July 31st.
“Live each moment completely and the future will take care of itself. Fully enjoy the wonder and beauty of each moment.”
